Frequently Asked Questions
What is the price of a German Shepherd from La Vigía?
Our puppies are selected through carefully studied breeding programs. Often, our females travel outside Spain as part of a selected breeding program. Additionally, they are well cared for during pregnancy, with proper veterinary checks and the best nutrition.
Similarly, the puppies are regularly inspected by a veterinarian, and their food is of high quality.
We maintain our 8,000m² facilities with thorough cleanliness to prevent diseases and infections.
At La Vigía German Shepherds, we take our work seriously; we respect our dogs and do not compromise their health and psychological well-being by cutting corners in breeding conditions. We uphold ethical standards of which we are proud, and as a result, our puppies are not inexpensive.
At what age are the puppies delivered?
The puppies are delivered once weaning is complete. Weaning is a gradual process during which the puppies start transitioning from an exclusive diet of mother’s milk. While they are nursing, they receive the necessary antibodies through the mother’s milk. It is very important that weaning is done correctly and that all puppies are eating solid food by the time they leave our facility.
Similarly, it is crucial that by the time they leave, they are reasonably socialized with other dogs, as this will be the foundation for a well-adjusted adult dog. Therefore, the puppies are delivered at our facility at 9 weeks of age and, if being shipped abroad, at 14 weeks.
How are the puppies delivered?
They are delivered under veterinary inspection, with the first vaccine administered (puppy vaccine), a microchip, and their health booklet.
In the case of sending puppies abroad, they are also given the rabies vaccine.
Additionally, the puppies will be bathed, dewormed internally, and inspected.
Are home deliveries available?
Our preference is for the family to pick up the puppy at our center to avoid adding extra stress. Additionally, it is a good opportunity to address any questions you might have about caring for your new companion.
However, we do arrange deliveries when the distances are very long. We work with a specialized pet transport agency.
The cost of delivery is not included in the price of the puppy and varies. If you’re interested, we will provide a quote for the delivery cost.
And… who will help me once the puppy is home?
From La Vigía, we will provide guidance on any questions you may have regarding the puppy’s adjustment process, feeding, socialization, and more. Additionally, we can assist in finding a veterinarian or trainer if needed.
