Our Bredding Line

What I Look for in a German Shepherd

BEAUTY, CHARACTER AND UTILITY

I got my first German Shepherd when I was ten years old. In my childhood home, there were always many dogs of various breeds, but none like ‘Alai.’

My dog was a paragon of mental balance, a true guardian of the house, and an example of respect towards our guests. She would lie in a corner as if she were asleep, but in reality, she remained constantly alert, displaying her character whenever necessary. With her ‘clan,’ the family, she showed exemplary nobility and loyalty.

Needless to say, in addition to her character traits, she was a stunningly beautiful dog!

I am a breeder of beautiful specimens, but this is not my only goal. They must also be balanced family dogs with a genetic predisposition for work.

I have been acquiring and selecting those females that, due to their instinctive qualities and performance, exemplify the type of dog—both in phenotype and genotype—that best fits my ideal of a German Shepherd, always in accordance with the breed standard.

My breeding objective is twofold: to contribute to the improvement of the breed and to make families who acquire one of our puppies happy, just as I am with my dogs.

Why Choose a De la Vigía Companion

Because we breed specimens with strict quality parameters under the auspices of the Spanish club Real Ceppa and the German SV club.

Because we breed with the guarantees of a zoological nucleus, ensuring strict veterinary control over the conditions, safety, hygiene of the facilities, and animal welfare.

Because we carry out a limited number of litters to ensure careful physical and mental attention, quality nutrition, and above all, adequate socialization by offering them the love of our home.

In summary, we breed specimens that we are proud of because they meet our objectives: beauty, temperament, and utility.

RESPONSIBLE BREEDING

Our puppies are bred under the regulations of the German Shepherd breed clubs Real Ceppa and SV German. This means adhering to strict quality guarantees. The most important guarantees are that the puppies are free from dysplasia in the five generations prior to the birth of your puppy (thus, a low probability that your puppy will develop the disease) and the completion of demanding character and work tests for the parents of your puppy and previous generations (Character Test, BH, IGP, Körung).

The puppies are cared for and subsequently delivered under strict veterinary control. They are also delivered dewormed, with a microchip, and two vaccinations administered (if shipped by plane, with a rabies vaccination).

The puppies are raised safely, with 6,000m² of space specially designed for them, including outdoor recreational areas, fields, and sunlight for their proper physical and mental development.

At De la Vigía, we start early socialization of the puppies to prevent future fears and insecurities. They live in the countryside, travel by car, and walk through the city. Additionally, our puppies are also raised “at home” because they live in “Casa la Vigía,” enjoying family life with us. For me, this aspect is crucial for character development.

In the German Shepherd, I seek beauty, character, and above all an utility dog.

My Story

I got my first German Shepherd when I was ten years old. This breed won my heart despite my experiences with many other dog breeds.

My demanding career as a Management Consultant and family responsibilities diverted me from what is now my passion—breeding and working with German Shepherds.

Now, I am fulfilling my dream: creating a high-quality “family” that stays true to my principles.
